1957 Fisher President - my most favorite President
« on: March 12, 2018, 04:00:01 PM »
Well, after a 12 hour trip (all in state) I secured an Original Fisher President.

1957 with full documentation...

Cabinet is rough, luckily a few months ago I found beautiful Walnut Fisher President albeit an empty cabinet.

Pics will be posted tonight.
Loud and Vintage.... any questions?

I was going to ask if those were two little phono preamps down on the bottom.  Then  saw your literature--what a haul!--and saw the instruction books for them.  I'm surprised the phono preamps weren't integrated into the main preamp.  The GE cartridge looks a like a mono one, but maybe the two round ones are stereo? Can't quite see the wiring in the photos.  But what a nice find!

I've got a round Grinnell Brothers record-cleaning brush like the one in the photo.  They were a Detroit-based piano company.  A recent book on Detroit said one reason for the rich black music scene in Detroit leading to Motown and similar music centers was the practice of Grinnell Bros. of selling pianos on credit at reasonable prices, so they could be widely owned.  When I was a kid, my hometown a hundred miles north of Detroit had a downtown Grinnell store selling pianos, other instruments, and radios and record players.

Very Nice!   So my question.....is it a 1957 or 1959?

Congratulations. I don't know what one sounds like, only that if it was TOL, it won't disappoint after restored! :-) Wow.
