Fisher Custom Electra E-48
« on: October 06, 2015, 05:15:39 AM »
Hello everyone!!   I recently acquired a 1962/63 Fisher Custom Electra, in great shape.  It is working just fine, but I still plan to recap the unit .  It cost me 100.00, which may be a lot, but I am ok with that.  I recently had to sell my 2 Magnavox Concert Grands, (due to medical problems) and finally got over that. I always wanted an all tube Fisher.  AM reception is very bad, but every unit I have has trouble in my area, except my car.  FM MPX is weak but FM mono is excellent.  The Garrard AT60 has a few adjustment issues I plan on fixing that this weekend.  I am not at all an fan of Garrard, but I do understand they are rather good turntables.  I am just a Dual guy.  I still have my first Dual that my parents bought me for Christmas in 1969 and it works fine.  Anyway any tips or suggestions you can throw at me I'd really appreciate it.  Thanks again, wish me luck!!

The Fisher console website is a great resource.

Maybe you already have them, but the owners manual and service manual are here:

Enjoy your Fisher.

Edit: Garrard AT60 Here:

Sorry to hear about your illness and the loss of your CG's, but glad your better now!

That Fisher is a fine unit and $100 is not too much to pay for it!!

Just had a thought about your weak FM stereo signal.

I'll bet it's because there isn't a Fisher MPX in there.

The manual shows a MPX 125:

Take a look and see if it's in there. If not, you might be able to source one on eBay at some point it you want.

Edit: There's one for sale on eBay currently. I have no affiliation with the seller, just passing it along.
