Nice console, want to confirm what I found
« on: December 13, 2015, 03:29:54 PM »
Local goodwill yesterday, spotted it and immediately bought.
Model 2st221h, Imperial, and what year,? Looks complete, missing one price of glass slider. Will finish inspection and put on variac tomorrow, then pull amp and tuner for recap. This looks like a keeper! Thanks

You have found a 1959 Magnavox Imperial Danish console. This was their 2nd best console available that year behind the Concert Grand. It is a wonderful unit in the light walnut finish. The missing glass will be a problem in terms of finding an original. However, a replacement can be cut by a glass shop and be reverse painted.

The unit looks to be in excellent cosmetic condition. All the information about your console is in our download center. Everything from the owners manual to the service literature is there as well as the 1959 Magnavox catalog.

Nice find.  That isn't a typical Goodwill item, in my area anyway.

Appreciate the info, always know where to go for console info. Went back to GW yesterday hoping to spot the other slider tops, no luck.Yes sir most of the consoles i see arent of this caliber so when I spotted it Saturday I couldnt get my wallet out quick enough. And the price? 15 whole dollars!!!
Thanks , i will post photos after I restore amp/tuner. Cheers, Ray

Wow $15!!
I may now have to stop at the many goodwill stores around here and do some hopefull searching!
Congratulations on a great find!  I am glad to see that Imperial found a good home and will not be repurposed into some hideous art project.

Power transformer bad? I bet there's a reason in there consisting of dried up electrolytic capacitors..
