Poor little Maggie!  All she can do now is wine a little bit...

I think they did a wonderful job on this, particularly the Cedar lining, BUT....if she was in such great shape on the outside, what did they do with the Insides????

Quite a few of these less desirable 1960s Magnavox cabinets have been repurposed.  I must admit, they do make a nice wet bar, or wine cabinet!

This Motorola, in a Drexel cabinet, has me feeling blue.

Today I was trekking through the downtown 4-story antique mall, looking for a battery jar for my aunt, and I came across a Sonora acoustic phonograph cabinet, minus innards, and a 1920s highboy radio cabinet in the same condition.  Thbose things always make me cringe.

There is a local guy who sells repurposed cabinets on craigslist. He doesn't do the awful paint job. Just the normal finish. I've contacted him and he said that he usually will try to find the cabinets that have already been gutted. He has gutted a few on his own and he sold me the components. Couple of times if the cabinet is very nice and everything is there, he has offered to sell me the whole unit before gutting it. Once he had a lead on a console and passed it on to me, because he felt bad about gutting it.

Oh.  This ones not been gutted, it just has a hideous paint job.
From the way the listing reads they might have actually purchased the unit this way!

I sent them an email with a low offer, with my reason for the price being the amount of labor involved to restore the unit, and instructions to call me if they are willing to accept my offer if they have no takers before they make their move (rather than see the unit kicked to the curb or donated to goodwill etc.

I can't believe someone would pay $700 for that. I want to have what they were smoking!
