Platter Mat Restoration

Black record player platter mats, even when cleaned, leave the mat a motley gray color. But, thankfully there is a product that will restore the mat to its original deep black color, rejuvenating the rubber and leaving it nice and grippy for records, but not cause record slippage. Here is what a black platter mat looks like after a normal cleaning.

Here's what the platter mat looks like after using the product.  The color is returned to a deep color it was originally.

The product is Lucas Slick Mist Fast & Easy Interior Detailer, available at some automotive parts houses.  This stuff really works wonders for record player platter mats.  I bought my first bottle of this stuff at AutoZone, but they quit carrying it and I had to order my current bottle online.  Some automotive parts stores may still carry it.

Here's a brown platter mat that I rejuvenated to its original color with Lucas.  Isn't it nice?

Will that product discolor when exposed to the heat in a Magnavox record changer compartment?
I don't need Google.  My wife says she knows everything.

I haven't seen it discolor on any mat I've used it on, including Magnavox's.
