Big Curtis Mathes
« on: June 19, 2016, 08:59:05 PM »
This was on CL for at least a month. They were basically giving it away and it would have been junked so i had to save it. I even got to talk to the original owner. She was too old to live by herself anymore and was moving in with her daughter and they didn't have the space for it. I knew it was going to be big but it's a lot bigger in person. It measure's 9 feet 2 inches. It took four guy to pick it up. Right now it's on dollies but it has six little legs and I have the panel that goes behind the middle bookcase section. The tops is in great shape and it does all work except the TV.

Those CM's with TVs are absolute monstrosities.

It's tube, I bet. Has the tuning eye.

Might have the BSR UA 14 record changer rebranded as a CM in it?

Here's a link to a site with lots of CM information:

Thanks for the link. I don't see alot of CM around here but lately I have bought two. My Viking was gutted when I found it.  I missed a Royal Dane because I didn't know what it was.

I like the CM design. I'm working on refinishing one now. I think I posted pictures of it here a while back.

The one in your first post is a "three in one" I think, after looking through the CM site linked above. I think it's very cool.

I hope it is ok to bring this thread back up.

Have you done anything with this Monster? Something I just learned about Curtis Mathes with their TVs is that they came in an unfinished metal cabinet and that they could be easily replaced. I just recently acquired one of the TVs in the unfinished cabinets.

Nice find!  How do you find the room to store everything?

You know you've got it bad when you have to stack 'em.   ;)

Storage has become a problem but I still go hunting every chance I get.
