1957 Bell & Howell / Paul McCobb Owners Manual
« on: September 04, 2014, 07:33:14 PM »
Never let it be said I don't share :) Here is a copy of the very rare owners manual for the even rarer 1956/57/58 Bell & Howell Consoles designed by Paul McCobb (the cabinetry). Sometime around 1957/58 Bell & Howell sold the entire division that produced the beautiful consoles to Columbia. Columbia then renamed them the Columbia Masterwork Series consoles. Of the half dozen or so that I've seen pictures of, on a couple, Columbia even glued their nameplate right over the Bell & Howell name. They must've took ownership of the unsold inventory and decided to relabel them. If you look at the service manual I posted you will notice it's an original Bell & Howell version with a Columbia cover on it. It even has a sticker on top saying it's an interim copy.
Pat :) The manual is available in the Downloads Center.

They sure did, and they were super expensive. They were sold at exclusive music stores in large cities alongside grand pianos and other expensive instruments. Pat
