Columbia 360 K2 Record Player
« on: September 04, 2016, 05:46:53 PM »
I just finished the restoration of this 1956 Columbia 360 K2 record player.  It has two 6 1/2 inch woofers and an electrostatic tweeter.  This is the first set I've ever seen with an electrostatic tweeter.

It also has a nice Columbia branded VM 1200 changer in it.  A really nice sounding phonograph.

Larry,
I hadn't seen your post until now, but I wanted to say that is one NICE hi-fi !!

In 1954, Columbia came out with the electrostatic speaker combos,
marketed as "Kilosphere" speaker system for use with their new "360"
table model record players. I never could understand what the K2 meant,
until I found an ad from Columbia.
I believe the amps in these units were nice PP chasses, some using
50L6 power tubes, which I really like.
Thanks for posting !

That's a really good-looking unit.  Wish I could hear it "in person" with that electrostatic tweeter.
