I went to Rustoleum's website and found the paint color I wanted... it's called Claret Wine.  I also searched for dealers who had that color, and noticed that Home Depot stocks it.  It cost $3.86, and one can was big enough for three coats of paint on the cabinet.

Here's a picture with the changer positioned on top.  I still need to install a new cartridge, check tonearm wiring continuity, and install two new idlers (ordered from VM Enthusiasts.....)

And, no, the cabinet isn't fire engine red.

This video shows the true color of the cabinet.  It has a bad speaker that rattles and makes groaning sounds on deep bass notes, so I ordered a replacement.  Here it is hooked up to my RCA test speaker system.
