Record Changer Test Stand
« on: December 05, 2016, 06:37:24 PM »
What any restorer needs is a good, solid as a rock, changer stand to test changers on.  In the past I've used a number of different things... stacks of CD cases, 2x4 boards, 4x4 boards, you name it, to support each side of a changer for testing. I even bought a metal test stand, but the thing is so flimsy I'm afraid to use it.

This changer test stand is a simple design made from wood and some angeled aluminum. The right side is stationary, but the left side is adjustable by loosening the wing nuts.  The bolts for the wing nuts can be moved to other sets of holes, making the test stand usable for RCA RP-168, RCA RP-190, RCA RP-197-205, VM 1200 changers and many others.  A friend of mine on a message board made this for me.  I've mounted the motorboard of an RCA RP-205 to see how it fits.  It fits like a glove and is solid as a rock. Now I'll be able to see under these changers while they are operating to see what's going on if there's a problem.
