For Sale Magnavox Windsor
« on: January 14, 2017, 09:54:05 AM »
Must sale ASAP...moving into a Tiny House and I'm unable to take my Windsor console with me.  I believe it's a 1950 or 1951 model in overall good condition, needs good cleaning and power cord replaced.  I'm told when I purchased it that it works, I'm unable to verify since the power cord needs replacing.

It is up for sale $500 you pay shipping or pickup locally.  BTW, not a light weight unit!

Looks like someone has replaced those nice door panels with bare plywood.  This won't help bring the price you are looking for.

I'm sorry to differ but this unit is all original Escanaba Knotty Pine made by Drexel for Magnavox!  The research I'm finding is this particular model is rare.

My apologizies, but your pictures are so large it looked like bare plywood.

I also note that the record changer has been replaced with a nice V-M unit with a magnetic cartridge, a GE VR-II.  I assume that there is a preamp for that cartridge tucked inside somewhere too.  Ought to sound pretty good on mono LPs.

Dunno if the turntable was a replacement or not.  Tomorrow I will take more pics behind the unit, there is a box hanging inside sideways, looks like the turntable plugs into then another cable going further down to I guess the amp.

That box is the preamp for the magnetic (variable reluctance) cartridge.

This is a wonderful unit at a very fair price. It's too far for me, but if it was closer  8)

Dennis,

What a beautiful unit! Thanks for sharing on this site. The Escanaba Knotty Pine is way cool! Hopefully, someone here will purchase this from you.

Regards,

Greg

"Escanaba" knotty pine?  Cool!  Escanaba is a town on the south shore of Michigan's Upper Peninsula, the Lake Michigan side.

One of you guys out that way should get this.  The Stephens Tru-sonic horn is worth a lot more than the asking price.  If I were close it would be mine.

I hope someone grabs it, these are the nicest sounding mono consoles ever made.
