Tony Orlando and Dawn
« on: February 04, 2017, 06:14:55 PM »
I did not care for this group back in the day.  My loss.  I have kinda gotten into their music lately.  "Tie A Ribbon 'Round The Old Oak Tree", "Candida", "Knock Three Times", "Who's In The Strawberry Patch With Sally" are some of the songs on the album I have.  Some of it is country, some Dixieland Jazz, some Mexican.  Good stuff.   :)
If it ain't broke, call me.  I can break it....

Tony Orlando was a struggling entertainer for quite a while before he finally made it big in the 1970s with the "Dawn" records.  Here's one from 1961:

Note the famous "Brill building" names on the record label, the song was written by Barry Mann & Cynthia Weil, and was arranged and conducted by Carol King.

That song was played on country stations back in the day.  The Haggers had a country version.  Even Lawrence Welk recorded the song.
