The cabinet design and grill cloth have a Bell & Howell/Columbia Masterwork look.  I wonder if B&H may have built this cabinet for Fisher.

Fisher cabinets, at least the modern ones, we're made by Widdicomb of Grand Rapids, MI.

Yes, the cabinet has the Widdicomb label still intact.

Widdicomb is/was a top Noth furniture company.  I looked at a sofa in an upscale store and it was $7000...  hand carved wood, 8-way hand tied springs and down filled cushions.  The upholstery was seamed so perfectly that you could barely tell.  Quality to the nth degree...

I would like to see some larger pictures and what the heck is that sperm whale doing on top of the stack of books? Tormenting poor Captain Ahab at the bottom of the pile?
