I picked them up tonight. You were 100% right amglow they are 604C's with the factory crossover's . Bad news is they need to be reconed.

Great! Glad to hear you got them.  I'm sure for the price you paid, it may well be worth the effort to get them re-coned.  Check out the following link for "Great Plains Audio".  From what I've read, they make high quality reproductions of numerous famous Altec Lansing speakers, like the 604E, staying true to the original.  They also have replacement parts, like the cones for the 604C.  I'm not associated with them in any way.  Just passing on a possible source for helping your wonderful 604C's sing again.
