Late 40s Magnavox grill cloth
« on: May 17, 2017, 07:02:28 PM »
I'm looking for a late 40s Magnavox grill cloth.  It's for my 1948 Regency Symphony.

Wouldn't any cream colored cloth work?

Sadly, the main supplier of grille cloth for the antique radio hobby has stopped production.

There are limited styles still available here:

It's real challenge to find cloth with gold, green, red and black patterns. I have visited several local fabric stores and was able to find some brown cloth that has enough red and green accents that looked close to a Sparton console I was restoring.

Normally, its hard finding something that looks appropriate but when the original is torn or missing, you need something and cant be too picky. I always back the cloth with window screen so it cant be ripped again.

My 1948 Windsor has some very mellow green-gold cloth.

Thanks for the link.  I would like to find an original pair of cloths, but will check out the site.

Two more possible sources of cloth.

And this guy did have some exact replacement cloth for late 50's early 60's Fisher consoles. None currently listed but you might message him and ask as he has a whole wharehouse full of old stock and not everything is listed on ebay.
