Augie Garcia Quintet
« on: July 20, 2017, 11:17:09 AM »
Hello everyone,

Recently came upon Augie Garcia who made one of the first rock n' roll hits in Minnesota, back in the 1950's.  I have very little information on him and his records are definitely hard to find. One piece of anecdote that I found was regarding a gig he did where he was headlining for Elvis. Turns out that during the set Augie got the crowd up in a frenzy and the Kernel did not like that, so he cut them off and had them stop playing. Wow, he must of been amazing to see in person. If anyone has more information regarding Augie, please chime in.

He sounds leading edge for 1955.  He'd even give Bill Haley a run for his money.
