I think I am going to get in trouble, and i can't call this an impulse buy, I was very patient and won an auction at shopgoodwill, just paid tonight, and can't wait for it to show up so i can play with it.. I guess its Merry Christmas to me!!

it is, isn't it.. and after some thought, as much as I would love it in my own collection, it going to a much better place, its going to be going to my Daughter for Christmas. She is 13 and has a growing love Vinyl and vintage audio, so what better way to promote some wonderful stuff for the next generation.

At least its still going to be close to mine.

I am happy to see that it didn't go to someone that was going to part it out to try to make a few bucks

the only way i make a few bucks on vintage gear is by fixing it selling it, parting out is a necessary evil to the hobby, but that is not my intention with any of the strays I bring home

I am very happy with the way it cleaned up, lucky that it wasn't too far gone, was able to bring it back with minimal effort.

She is going to love it, its already wrapped and under the tree.

The icing on the cake for me, is that her deadbeat mom is trying after 13 years of nothing, gave her a cheap set of flea market special bluetooth speakers and they are sitting in the box while she is enjoying her new vinyl that my brother got her to go with this great little Sanyo. I have to say, I am a proud dad, my little girl has taste, and already at 13 years old, loves her tube gear. She plays guitar and uses a Marshall JCM800 that my brother gave her. Nothing beats good vintage.

That's a great story. My oldest will be 13 in a year and her taste in music is not as refined, yet. Tube audio for that era of music is most appropriate!

Very interesting is that its full-feature stereo with no power transformer. I hope it has a polarized plug.

Those 30A5 output tubes got me looking in my RCA book, not there, see attached Hitachi data sheet .

Those little tubes in push pull put out rather well. I do wish i could find a schematic for this unit, but i do plan on putting in an isolation transformer, and maybe building a new case for the unit, something that can fit a larger, and better turntable in it. She will need an upgrade before long.
