'63 Electra - Garrard AT-6
« on: April 09, 2018, 11:00:31 PM »
I have a '63 Fisher model E-48 with a Garrard AT-6. With the stock Garrard headshell, there are no provisions to align the cartridge properly, so I modified it to allow me to dial it in on a Baerwald protractor. Why wouldn't they design the head/tonearm geometry in a way to be aligned? Did the original design factor in stacked record height or something else I'm not thinking about? Thanks.

In 1963 on an AT-6 the cartridges were probably all using conical stylii, and alignment had less significance as long as you got the overhang right.
