Looking to sell a few choice Mono Consoles
« on: May 22, 2018, 01:55:27 PM »
Yes, you heard it right.

I need the room for my (2) Fisher Presidents and (2) Ampex console unts...

So, up for sale will be:

(1) Magnavox Brittany - Blond (148 Amp)
(1) Magnavox Brittany - Mahogany (148 Amp)
(1) Two Owner GE Musaphonic (super original and untouched)
(1) RCA Orthophonic (like new condition)

I will get pictures up very soon, but before I go public, I thought I would give you guys first shot.

Those of you who know me, know that these are personal pieces in my collection, so condition is very good.

I'm located in Milwaukee, WI. 53210

Loud and Vintage.... any questions?

I'm the one who won't be buying any more consoles until a pole barn falls from the sky and lands in my back yard, but photos would be great fun to drool over.

Chris, maybe you need to have a good old-fashioned "barn raisin'".  Invite a couple dozen of your closest friends over, hammer in hand, with the promise of cool adult beverages and a good time to be had by all...... ;)
I'm great at multi-tasking.  I can listen, ignore, and forget all at the same time.

The city zoning folks would be hell raisin'.  My house and the garage probably fill my quota of allowable structures. I was thinking about checking to see of I could add onto the garage, where I have a heated shop at one end.  I need a radio repair bench, preferably in its own room to keep sawdust off those projects.  The heated shop has a cool little wall heater.  It has a concentric intake air/exhaust flue arrangement, which means that the combustion air is drawn from outside and I don't have to worry about solvents igniting.  Plus it uses no power--it's all convection.  When i finished out the shop I was careful about insulation details and sealing air leaks.  I blew 14" of cellulose into the attic space.  There was no evident increase in gas bills when I added the wall heater (surely there must be some, but it's surprisingly small).  It's great to be able to work on projects at night in the winter.

Chris,  would your "hell raisin city zoning folks" let you to up?  Second story maybe?  That would make great storage space and then you will have more main floor space.  Just a thought!

Invite the city "hell raisers" to help.  That way, it would be done to their specs.   ;)

Going up is a good idea.  My radio shop is on the second story  of my garage.

Thanks!  I like the Cherry one. The antique one as an extra knob by the clock?

Do you have a picture of the GE musaphonic? GE made nothing even close to it ever again! That is a true grail IMHO.
