1963 Magnavox Stereo
« on: October 06, 2018, 08:03:01 AM »
I spotted this on Craig's list Grand Rapids Michigan. I thought it would spark some interest.  Take a look at all the photos and notice the warranty info.  It's dated August of 1963.  This has to be one of the last tube units Magnavox produced.

They certainly have it well documented.

Is that an 8600 series SE 6BQ5 amp?  If it is it looks a little different than the others that I've saw pictures of.  If it is they're said to sound very good.

I'm not sure what it is, I have not seen one like that before.  Hopefully someone else will know.  :)

Single-ended amp with an MPX adapter.  I don't believe I've ever seen one like it.  Super low end setup.  There is hardly anything in the cabinet.
I'm great at multi-tasking.  I can listen, ignore, and forget all at the same time.

Large cabinet, you would expect it to be very impressive inside.  There is a lot of empty real estate in there.   ;)

Good old Magnavox.  If it didn't have the guts, at least you had a piece of good furniture.  They all gave that.

It may not have rattled the walls, but a bottom-of-the-line Magnavox sounded pretty good compared to it's like-priced competition.
