Best of luck with your project, HFF.  Feel free to ask if you have questions.  We are happy to help.  Keep us posted on your progress, if you don't mind.   :)
I don't need Google.  My wife says she knows everything.

HiFiFun,
Here are two excellent links from a British site: One for the Conquest, on for the Studio.  I was working on six Studios at the weekend, got them all running at the right speed...just finding my way with this..

I'm interested in what others find for wow/flutter on the Studio (Micromatic) changer.  I have an app on an iphone ("RPM") and an app on an Android "RPM Speed and Wow".  They give similar-ish results (the galaxy one gives wow to 2 standard deviations so can be a wee bit lower), and the iphone app gives speed values close to 33.33 whilst the android would give ~32.75 rpm for the same.

Anyway, I get a wow/flutter number of typically 0.4% - 0.9% once I'd worked on them.  Does this sound about average?

Hi everyone,
The owner of the Collaro brought it over recently.
It doesn't look as daunting as I thought.

I'm currently finishing up a 1957 V-M 557 that is a
really stunning tabletop hi-fi. Has an ultra-linear feedback
amp in it and some cool controls.

Will report back with the blow by blow as I start on the Collaro.

Thanks to Electra225 and Robbo, I should have everything a
newbie could need to service this Collaro.

Sounds like the same amp in my Model 566 console--P-P 6BQ5s?  I was really surprised when I looked at the schematic and saw that ultralinear arrangement.  I just looked and I haven't added it to the downloads section.  I'll try to do that.

Chris, I just uploaded the V-M schematic for 557,562,566 models.
I'm going to post a separate topic
about the 6BQ5 plate and screen grid voltage questions I have.
Best,
HFF

That's the schematic that I have been trying to post!  Is it already in r downloads section, or did you find it elsewhere?

Mine is a later version of the 566 amp, apparently, because it has the output transformer primary taps for the output tube grid feedback.  I've tried multiple times to upload it but keep getting error messages even though the file size is way below limits.  I'll try to PM it to you and maybe you can load it.

It's also important not to over-think these things.

It is said if a quarterback second-guessed his initial throw, he'd better be running.  Hard.  I look at it like this.  These aren't Thorens turntables.  They are cheap.  You just might get a better one for $20 that has no issues at all.
