1961-62 Packard Bell console
« on: February 25, 2019, 08:48:02 AM »
I get a very loud thump in the selector switch when switching to FM radio, I have cleaned the switch a few times, but it's still there, tape to phone is fine, no thump, and FM to AM is fine. There's two separate FM positions on the selector, FMS and FM, both positions on the switch thump very loud when selected. Packard Bell rpc-25s, all tube, amp dpa-30-3, tuner is a 7tu11, 12? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks Bill

My Magnavoxes all do that to some degree.  As long as the function switch is clean and everything works, I never paid that much attention to it.  I don't believe it hurts anything.
I don't need Google.  My wife says she knows everything.

The 62 PB that I had a couple years back did that too... didn't seem to be a problem.

AND....  WELCOME ABOARD!

I have to say that the dpa series amp found in these PB consoles is one of the finest sounding that I have heard... I sure regret selling this console and have been looking for a replacement ever since!
