Independence Day Music
« on: July 05, 2019, 04:02:05 PM »
July 4th - I rolled the 1947 Magnavox Berkeley out on the porch once I heard that a program featuring each of the five service bands (Army-Navy-Marines-Air Force-Coast Guard) would be on the normally-NPR FM station from Harrisburg this afternoon.

Just hearing each band's classic sound via a post war console on such a day gave me shivers on a too-hot day here. There is no sound like a pair of hot 6L6s ;) sending Nationalist numbers out into the yard and pool. Good thing it was on a local frequency as this Maggy's accessory FM tuner has a Foster-Seely discriminator, terrible for pulling distant reception.

Of course the NPR station went back to talk-talk again - but what an hour!

Nice looking Maggie Dave, and what a fitting tribute to the 4th of July.
