"Harsh" sound. Needle?
« on: August 23, 2019, 06:44:38 PM »
Hey folks. In the restoration of my 1968 Micromatic turntable, with the thin silver tone arm, I noticed the records sound a bit harsh. Could that be a worn needle? Round white 45 adaptor hole.

If so is there a good cheap source for a stock or better needle?

Thanks folks!

Sounds like the compliance of the cartridge has gotten hard.  You may be due for a different cartridge.
I don't need Google.  My wife says she knows everything.

I take it there's no good way to restore a cartridge without replacing it?

That is correct.  Not much we can do for repair.  Gary at the site I suggested can help you, and he is very reasonable.
