Nub here need to revive a Motorola SK76WA
« on: October 07, 2019, 01:27:56 PM »
Hello All!  New to the board,

I have ownd this console for some time and originally bought it with the intint having a functional unit. Needless to say the unit has not turned on and upon further inspection it appears prior owner did some diy "repairs".

Console has HS 963B amp.
The issue I see is there was an attempt to work on the reset button. I see some wires were cut and bad soldering.

I am seeking help from the community by asking for pictures of amp undercarage or schematis in order to repair wiring.

I did include a picture of the 7 wires that need to be repaired.

I greatly appreciate the help! Can't wait to hear this one sing.

I have a Motorola SK52W which has a different amp than what you have.  Did you look in the downloads on this site.  It's at the top of the page when you log in.  Click on downloads and take a look, you might find a schematic there.  Otherwise someone here might have a schematic or a photo of your amp.

Good Luck!

Bill

Its anyone's guess what they were trying to do. It looks like the "mods" were limited to the 120 VAC side, which is only to control power via phono and/or function selector switch. At least Motorola used a circuit breaker for the 120V primary but RCA and Magnavox did not.

"Motorola 1962 model SK77 and others" uses the HS-968 amp but the schematic very close to yours.

Your Motorola is found in Sams 591-9.

Send me a PM with your email, and I'll send it to you.

That is a TOTL Motorola 3 channel with lots of 6V6's !

An extensive topic on it from ARF:   https://antiqueradios.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=145949
