« on: January 05, 2015, 01:32:30 PM »
well i want to thin the heard a bit. i have a appears to be an all original french imperial. im wanting 400.00 or best offer.

IIRC 60 should still have the tuning eye tube... somewhere during the 61 model year they made the switch to the meter style tuning indicator.  Not as sexy as the Eye Tube but you never have to replace it because there is no phosphor to wear out!

What part of the world are you in AMP?

You're right, Ken.  My '60 still has an eye tube.
If it ain't broke, call me.  I can break it....

And the whole back. Its actually in better shape than the pics show. I'm sure it can clean up well. I can do that or leave the dust.

It has a FM multiplexer too!

I would say that this is the "Fuitwood" or Cherry finish just like mine has... yours has simply darkened from age. I would bet that it probably sat in front of a window for a portion of it's life and that has caused the finish to darken somewhat.

AND... anyone that is having trouble viewing the large images within the confines of the forum if you download the images to your computer (by clicking on the links below the photo) they will open up in whatever image editing program you use and they are much easier to manipulate/zoom/re-size or whatever suits your fancy and your monitor size.

Personally I like having the large, hi resolution images, as it makes it much easier to zoom in on the little details that are often missed in low-res version.

Your right on the color. Also its dark and I'm using my dining room light. I'm sure that don't help.

That cabinet looks more like maple than mahogany.  Where are the tubes for the amplifier?

This unit is in the 1961 catalog. It was offered in only two finishes: Cherry or Antique Ivory. I've personally restored two exactly like this one. The finish is a very dark cherry and it was very similar between the two I have seen and this one. This is a very high quality unit and represents the pinnacle of Magnavox quality and know how. I have found that these Imperials sound as good as the Concert Grands, they just have to be turned up a bit louder.
